Statement:
This snake was originally meant to be part of the painting “Good Girl?¿”, but I decided it needed to have its own moment. The piece is untitled because it meant two different things to me at different times.
The concept of a white snake with a pink bow eating it’s own tail came to me in 2024 when I was painting “Good Girl?¿, and at the time I was really exploring the idea of what it really means to be a good person. I thought my spirit was trying to tell me that there is no freedom in doing evil or wicked, ill-intended things because it will always come back to bite you in one way or another eventually. The truth always comes to light, and most “bad” behaviour comes with baggage we then have to deal with later. Although in the moment it is very enticing and we often tell ourselves excuses to why it’s okay or justified. It looks like the easier solution, but it’s self-sabotage.
The snake eating its own tail is also an ancient symbol, Ouroboros, and is historically known to represent rebirth, life and death, self creation and unity of life. When I finally brought this piece to life it was at perfect timing when I was genuinely at a stage of feeling all of these things too. I completed it in December 2025, which was a great way to finish off the year of the snake.
