Welcome to Miccasworld ♡

I am Micca, a self-taught oil painter born and raised in Perth, Western Australia, who later moved to Melbourne in 2022. I’ve had a natural inclination toward art my entire life, with early memories of feeling excited about drawing as young as four years old. I’ve always found deep satisfaction in learning how to draw different objects and discovering new techniques to help me express the visions I imagined. At sixteen, I touched oil paint for the first time and instantly fell in love with its richness and depth.

Steering away from the university pathway, I chose to explore my artistic journey independently, guided by intuition, curiosity, and deep roots in my faith. Since 2022, I have completed two solo exhibitions and intend to carry on my practice for as long as God allows me.

I believe art is limitless; free from rules, categories, or boundaries. My work follows my ethos that art is most profound when it is completely authentic, untethered by the expectations of others. During moments of feeling out of place growing up in a corporate 9-5-oriented world, I found solace in surrealism, where I could build imaginative, mystical worlds far removed from the ordinary. My work often blends whimsy with introspection, using symbolism and dreamlike imagery to convey emotion and meaning.

My ideas stem from my life - my thoughts, emotions, and reflections on personal experiences as a Taiwanese-Australian Christian sex worker navigating my 20s. I carry a strong curiosity about human psychology and the unseen layers of the human experience, often listening to interviews with people from all walks of life while I paint. Through this, I seek to understand how experiences shape individuals, including myself, and these explorations emerge in my art in unconventional ways.

I'm incredibly grateful to be able to share my art with you, I do not take it for granted. I hope my art touches your soul in magical, mystical ways. I'm honoured to create it for you :)
