Thoughts and feelings:

In 2021 I had just started working at a strip club (as a waitress initially, and later became a stripper). I applied for the job as a result of fascination and curiosity, because before that I knew absolutely nothing about that world. The idea for this piece came to me during the first year on the job, and is a reflection of my experience there. As you’d probably expect, dealing with lustful, drunk and high men multiple nights a week put me in a man-hating phase (which I've now grown out of lmao). But I'm a pretty light hearted person, and the strip club I worked at was extremely unserious as well, so even though crazy things happen, I’m sort of able to just brush it off. Which is why the decapitated man-head is just a cake and I'm laughing satirically. Like “I hate yall” but with laughing emojis, so like: “I hate yall 😂😂😂😂”.

Most people that go are there for a silly goofy time, and as a stripper I’m there to provide a silly goofy time as well ! My club was also very chaotic, always a lot going on, overstimulation to the max. So I wanted the piece to give that vibe too. I’ve always seen strippers and thought they were so hot and powerful. Some people may not agree, but this has always just been how my brain saw them lol. My first impression when I first saw the girls on stage was honestly so much awe, similar to how most people may view ballerinas, so that's why they're in there too - dancing around and being majestic without a care in the world :) The VIP room was called the “Rocket room”, and the uniform I used to have to wear when I was waitressing made me feel like an unsexy stewardess or movie usher. It was really unsexy lmfaoooo.
